DEXTER'S LAB Character Sketches
As I mentioned elsewhere on my blog, when I'd gotten the DEXTER job from DC, I did't feel comfortable drawing the characters "on model". So, I played around with their looks, trying to find my specific voice with their designs. I unearthed these this morning, my take on Dexter's parents.

In my opinion, they look better than the model sheets. And I can say that about all your comics. The DeStefano voice boosts up every character, it’s so classy.
I loved your version of Jingle Belle, it looked more distinctive and graceful than any of her other designs. The layout, pace and action in the comic were awesome too, it was so fun to read, felt like a movie.
Very kind words, toonamir. Thanks very much!
Your "off models" were always good with us, Steve! You and Wray rocked the DEX comix.
I liked how, in your hands,
Dexter's mom harkened back
to Wilma Flintstone
on a Hazelton Sunday.
i agree... these are definitely so much better than the real thing!!! =D
I would've preferred if Dexter's dad looked more like he did in the earlier show.
If only I could get you to draw the Billy and Mandy comics "off model".
Maxwell--
speak with Joan at DC regarding that; I already did!
thanks for posting,
best,
Sde
